Richard C. Roth

It is with great sadness that the family of Richard C. Roth, announces his passing on February 2nd at the age of 88. Born in Brooklyn, New York on July 26, 1937, Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and was married to the love of his life, Barbara, for 66 years. Together they raised three children: Steven, Susan and Kevin.

Richard was raised in Cambria Heights, Queens, attended Chaminade High School in Long Island and earned a degree in Marketing from Manhattan College. After marrying Barbara in 1959, they lived in Queens Village and eventually moved to Milltown, NJ where they raised their growing family. After retirement, Richard and Barbara settled in Bluffton, SC, where they were blessed with warm weather, natural beauty and many new friends.

Richard had a distinguished career in advertising, marketing, and package design across both the consumer‑packaged goods and pet industries where he held senior executive positions guiding marketing strategy and new product development. His creative vision ultimately led him to establish his own package‑design enterprise, Axus, Inc., where he continued to apply his innovative approach to brand development and consumer engagement.

A lifelong student of history and an avid World War II enthusiast, Richard’s passion for the subject inspired him to write Endangered Eagle, a novel that takes place in Germany. His wide-ranging curiosity and love of learning defined much of his life and work.

Richard cherished his many summers in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, and especially enjoyed sailing, tennis and golf. He also loved to travel, exploring numerous European countries, and his love of the theatre often found him frequenting Broadway and plays in and around South Carolina. Above all, Richard was devoted to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara; his children Steven (married to Kathleen), Susan (John), and Kevin (Brenda); 10 grandchildren—Jackie, Stephanie, Megan, Sean, Alex, Colin, Kassandra, Cristy, Catie and Courtney—and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Those who knew him best can say with certainty that Richard approached every day with confidence, passion, and an independent spirit — and that, in every sense of the word, he truly lived life--his way.

A life well lived!
