Richard A. Schmidt

Richard A. Schmidt, age 80 died on September 12, 2020, Bluffton, SC.

He was born in Detroit, MI on January 20, 1940.

Is survived by his wife Dora, his three children:  daughter, Judith A. Perez (son-in-law Jorge) (and granddaughter Josie Ann); sons, Rich Schmidt and Michael Schmidt.

Richard spent 12 years in the Army, served with the 173 Airborne Brigade in Viet Nam from 1968-1969 and retired as a Major.  A graduate of Michigan State University and Western Michigan University with a Master in Business.  He was administrative director with several companies including Citi Bank (Upjohn, MI), Towsend-Bottum, and T&B Company (both in Ann Arbor, MI).

He married Isadora (Dora) Torres in February 1965.  They celebrated their 50th anniversary in Bluffton with family and friends.

He will be inurned with Honors at Beaufort National Cemetery on Monday, September 28, 2020 at 1:00 PM.

A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Vincent De Paul Society (31 St. Gregory Dr., Bluffton, SC  29909).
