Richard Oliver Wheeler, 73, was called to his Heavenly home on January 26, 2019. His steadfast belief in God as his Lord and Savior gave him ultimate peace. Richard was born to the late Raymond and Gladys Wheeler in Binghamton, New York on November 1, 1945. At the age of 15, Richard gave his life to Jesus Christ, who was his support and guide through life.
Richard was blessed with a loving family. He is predeceased by his brother, Earl Wheeler of Hilton Head, SC. He leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Dena Wheeler; his daughter Laura Wright (Kevin) of Grass Valley, CA.; son James Antonelli of Santa Cruz, Ca.; son Douglas Wheeler of Hilton Head, SC; daughter Michelle Alexander (Henry) of Sunnyvale, Ca.; son Dennis Wheeler (Amanda) of Hilton Head, SC; and daughter Christine Gemas (Marcus) of Connelsville, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; a sister Ramona (Wheeler) Struthers of San Jose, Ca.; a brother Gary P. Wheeler of Campbell, Ca.; and many nieces and nephews.
Richard came to the Low Country in 1999 from California. He was the Owner/Operator of Bogeys Coffee Café on Hilton Head. He then worked at Stokes Toyota Hilton Head and Beaufort.
He faithfully attended First Baptist Church of Hilton Head Island where he was a member of the Walk With the King Sunday School Class. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, January 31 at 2 pm at First Baptist Church, Hilton Head, SC.
