Richard Arthur Younger Sr.

Richard Arthur Younger Sr., 80, of Bluffton SC departed this life on Sunday, May 23, 2010.He was born on January 5, 1930 in New York City to the late William and Mildred Younger.He attended St. Catherine of Genoa Catholic School and Church and Power Memorial High School. He completed his education at NYU and Parsons School of Design.Richard served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was also in the Coast Guard during World War II. He was a decorated soldier and honored for his service. Richard began his career with the Department of Defense where he served for forty two years. Richard was an artist and loved to spend his spare time painting and drawing. Richard loved to enjoy the many culinary delights found in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. The last fives years of his life were spend in Sun City in Bluffton, SC where he resided with his beloved wife, Clemma of twenty years. Richard is survived by his sons, Pastor Richard A.Younger Jr. and wife, Julie; Jeffrey P. Younger and daughter, Carolyn Montgomery and husband, Rev. Stanford Montgomery; stepdaughter, Linda Carrington and stepson, David Carrington. Also he is survived by his brothers, Bobby and Donnie Younger and sister, Lorraine. Richard has three grandchildren, Richard III, Lauren and Christopher and one great grandchild, Carl.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton, SC.
