Rita Poe Bostick

August 28, 1932 — July 29, 2022

Rita Poe Bostick of Estill, South Carolina, passed peacefully into Heaven early on the morning of July 29 th , 2022, while under the compassionate care of the memory care staff at The Arbor in Canton, Georgia. Rita was born in Atlanta, Georgia, where she later met the love of her life, Roger Bostick. They spent much of their marriage traveling, first while Roger was deployed with the Air Force, and later in obedience to Christ’s calling on their lives as missionaries and servants.

Rita graduated from Delta State University, in Benoit, Mississippi, with a B.S. in Elementary Education. Rita and Roger spent the better part of two decades in Benoit, where she utilized her degree and love for educating others as a fifth-grade teacher at Bayou Academy in Skene, Mississippi for five of those years. Her passion for education was not contained to the classroom, often being found teaching Sunday school or participating in ladies Bible studies. When the Lord called, Rita and Roger moved to Zimbabwe. For two years, Rita dedicated herself to teaching high school and leading Bible studies, impacting countless lives in the name of Jesus Christ. Their mission work continued when they moved to Rock River, Wyoming, serving with the Pioneer Mission for 10 years.

Rita spent around 25 years living in Estill, South Carolina, where she invested time in forging relationships and serving at Lighthouse Church in Hampton County.

Rita is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Bostick, son-in-law Bill Winders, and parents Theron and Lena Poe. She is survived by her daughters Terri Bostick of Reno, Nevada, Leigh (Will) Womble of Woodstock, Georgia, grandsons Wesley (Jessie) Womble of Galloway, New Jersey, Barry (Savannah) Womble of Ruffin, South Carolina, and three great-grandchildren.

Rita loved encouraging new Christians, worshipping through music, and interceding in prayer for others. She will be remembered for fervently sharing the love of Christ, her sense of humor, and her passion for education and investing in others.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Rita on Tuesday, August 2 nd , 2022. A graveside service will take place at Bostick Cemetery (Robertville Loop Road, Garnett, SC) at 11:00 a.m. Visitation and fellowship will take place immediately following the service at Robertville Baptist Church (26 Robertville Drive, Garnett, SC 29922).
