Robert "Bob" A. Rogers II Robert Rogers, Retired Army Major, was born on June 12, 1933 in New York City to the Rev. Muriel Andrews. Left behind is his college sweetheart, Vera Manning Rogers of fifty eight years and his four children, Robert A. Rogers and his wife, Val of Deptford, NJ, Rhonda Rogers Jones and husband William of Laurel, MD, Raymond Rogers and wife, Angela, and Ronald A. Rogers of Washington, DC and two grandchildren, Allison and Raymond II of Oklahoma City. Robert moved to Bluffton from the Washington, DC area in 1995 after retiring from government service where he was employed with the Department of Justice (DEA). During his time with Government, Robert worked with the Small Business Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, Office of the District of Columbia Mayor and City Council and the DC Department of Corrections. Robert and his family considered Detroit, Michigan their original home where he was able to obtain his degrees from Eastern Michigan (BS) and the University of Detroit (MA). He completed his residency at the National Defense University, (Industrial College of the Armed Forces) and the Federal Executive Institute for Senior Managers. Prior to leaving Detroit, he held other employment positions as Social Worker, Detroit Police Officer, Parole Officer and Michigan Department of Corrections. His military career included US Army active duty tours in German, the Army Reserves where he was promoted through the enlisted ranks to warrant Officer and commissioned officer ranks, where he finally retired from the District of Columbia Army National Guard at the rank of Major. Bob continued to provide service to the community as Fire Commissioner in Greater Bluffton as well as being a member and past president of the Bluffton Men's Club, Military Officers Association and many other community Clubs. His educational contributions included teaching as an Assistant Professor at Savannah State University, Senior Instructor at Park University Beaufort and Adjunct Instructor at USC-B and TCL. Memorial services will be held at Noon on Friday, November 27, 2015 at the Church of The Cross, Calhoun Street, Bluffton. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am until 11:30 am at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton. Please send memorial donations to the American Heart Association or the Kidney Foundation of American in memory of Robert Rogers. Memorial services will be held at Noon on Friday, November 27, 2015 at the Church of The Cross, Calhoun Street, Bluffton. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am until 11:30 am at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton.
