Robert Francis Ankney

Robert F. Ankney (76), of Bluffton, South Carolina, September 7, 1944 to August 2, 2021; born and raised in Dover, Ohio, to the late Margaret and Francis Ankney; moved to Sun City in 2003, survived by his wife, Cinda (Smith) of 55 years, daughters Kristen Bogumill (Dennis) of Peachtree City, Georgia, and Regan Ankney Cobb of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; grandchildren Kylee, Drew, and Kaylen Bogumill; brother William Ankney (Mary) of Dover, Ohio.  Bob received his B.S., M.A., and Ph.D from The Ohio State University.  While at OSU, he was pitcher on the baseball team and a member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity.  Bob spent 35 years in education as a Teacher, School Psychologist, Director of Special Education, Assistant Professor at Bowling Green State University, and Elementary Principal.  He was a member of the Dover Ohio Elks Lodge and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Gahanna Ohio. Bob was an avid Buckeye fan, golfer, and wood turner. He was a skilled euchre, bridge, and pickle ball player.  Bob enjoyed traveling with Cinda all over the world.  His family wants to thank their friends and neighbors who have provided support and care through this difficult time.    Services will be held Saturday, August 7th, at The Church of the Cross on Calhoun Street, Old Town Bluffton at 2:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Church of the Cross Food Bank or the South Carolina Alzheimer’s Association.
