Robert John Bauer, 81, of Bluffton, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. He was born in Tuckahoe, New York on March 20, 1930. He was the son of Edward and Victoria E. Schork Bauer. He was a veteran serving in the United States Air Force. He worked as an Electrical Engineer for General Electric for 35 years and at Kennedy Space Center in the Mercury and Gemini Space programs. He enjoyed bird watching, golfing, and fishing and was a member of Lowcountry Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Kilpatrick Bauer of Bluffton; two sons, Brian Douglas Bauer of Chandler, Arizona and John David Bauer (Kirsten) of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Bauer and Jack Bauer. He was predeceased by his brother Edward Bauer Jr. Memorial services will be held on Monday, November 14 at 10:30 AM at the Lowcountry Presbyterian Church.
