Robert "Bob" Blohm

Robert (Bob) Blohm, age 81 died at home on August 18, 2022 after valiantly fighting pulmonary fibrosis for nine years. Born in New York City to Herman and Margaret Blohm and raised in Hicksville Long Island, he graduated from Chaminade High School and received a Bachelor of Science at St. John’s University.

Bob worked over 30 years for Armstrong and spent his retirement volunteering and mentoring youth. He also enjoyed birdwatching, eating ice cream and drinking his strawberry soda.

He moved here from New Jersey with Marie fifteen years ago and called Bluffton home. Bob was an avid tennis player who enjoyed matches with friends on Hilton Head Island and Bluffton. Listening to music was a favorite pastime and he loved to hear local talent like Chris Jones and Irritating Julie play at many different venues. Bob was loved by many and could be found every Sunday night at the Beach Club in Sea Pines with friends “casting aspersions”.

He is survived by Marie, his wife of twenty four years, three children, Kathleen, Tim, Lorri and spouses, and stepson, David, eight grandchildren, Matthew, Steven, Kayla, Brianna, Julia, Scott, Robert, Ryan and Christopher and his brother Chris and sisters Terri and Kath. Above all, Bob valued faith, family and friends. The family is grateful to all who have supported him. He will be missed dearly.

A memorial mass will be held at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church, 23049 Whyte Hardee Blvd, Hardeeville, SC 29927, on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 10:00 am.

A burial will be held in New Jersey at a later date.
