Robert M. "Bob" Englund

Robert M. “Bob” Englund, age 83, of Bluffton, SC died Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Hospice Savannah.

Mr. Englund was born on August 30, 1935 in Grand Forks, ND and grew up in Twin Valley, MN, the son of the late Mencer and Clara Englund. He was a graduate of North Dakota State University where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering and continued at the University of Minnesota where he earned a BBA based on MBA coursework. Following his formal education he began his career in the computer industry, working with UNIVAC for 23 years and ultimately retiring from Honeywell as a manager of their Systems Research Center. During the course of his career, Mr. Englund had five patents granted. Following his tenure with Honeywell he bought an orthopedics lab in Brainerd, MN and after many years of success with the company retired to Sun City-Bluffton, SC. Bob was very active in the Sun City community and was able to enjoy his hobbies of amateur radio, woodworking, and photography. He was also active with the Lowcountry Civil War Roundtable, the OLLI program at the University of South Carolina-Bluffton campus, and was a longtime member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church.

Mr. Englund is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dorothy A. Englund; son, Steven Robert Englund and wife Roxanne of McLean, VA; daughter, Dr. Sheryl Ann Englund and husband Dr. Luke Keller of Ithaca, NY; and grandchildren, Julia, Dan, and David Englund as well as Amelia Englund Keller.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Lord of Life Lutheran Church, the American Heart Association, or the American Diabetes Association.
