Dr. Robert (Bob) Henry “Smokey” Cheeseman, a retired educator, died January 20, 2024 in Okatie, SC, following a short illness.
He was born on December 9, 1938 in Camden, NJ to the late Willard Franklin and Frances (Smith) Cheeseman.
He completed his high school education in his home state of New Jersey, later receiving a BA degree from The Citadel (Charleston, SC) in 1960. He and his wife were faithful supporters of The Citadel. Subsequently, he earned a EdD degree from the University of Mississippi.
He and his wife, Helen “Mickey” (Hall) Cheeseman, were both educators traveling the world teaching in various places, including Guam before settling in Mississippi, to finish their careers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen. Robert was a loving and faithful husband in caring for “Mickey” during an extended period prior to her death on February 4, 2015.
Survivors: brother, Bruce Cheeseman; sister, Janet Brush; devoted friends from his F Company classmates.
