Robert Elro Carroll

Robert Elro Carroll, 82, of Bluffton, SC passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2009 in the Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Beaufort, SC.He was born in Leona Mines, Virginia on January 28, 1927. He was the son of the late James Mitchell and Ida Ethel Duncan Carroll.He moved to Taneytown, MD and became a Masonry Contractor. He was an avid hunter and golfer and member of many service clubs. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. He was a Methodist.He retired to Moss Creek, Hilton Head in 1996 and later relocated to Pinecrest Bluffton. He continued to play golf at both clubs until his stroke in 2005.He was lovingly cared for at home by Myra Poplin, Ruth Pepin and Dianne Reynolds for more than three years. The family thanks them, his many friends who visited weekly; especially to Dr. Frost for his dedicated care.He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. Carroll of Bluffton, SC; one son, Robert E. Carroll Jr. of Frederick, Maryland; three daughters, Karen (Paul) Smith-Nastasi of Eldersburg, Maryland, Robin (Greg) Lonscak and Elizabeth (Adam) Sullivan all of Bluffton, SC; two brothers, Charles and Jack Carroll both of Oklahoma City, OK; two sisters, Dorothy Carroll and Shirley (Sam) Codomo all of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren, Jeremiah Carroll, Hunter Carroll, Sara and Matthew Nastasi and many nieces and nephews.A Celebration Of Life will be held at 4:00 pm, Friday, June 26, 2009 at Sauls Funeral Home Chapel, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton, SC.
