Robert August Gardner

Robert August “Bob” Gardner, 90, of Bluffton, SC, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 14, 2025.

Born in Dover, NJ in 1934 to the late Margaret “Nee” Sharkey and August Michael Gardner, Bob grew up with a strong sense of duty and integrity that guided him throughout his life. At age 20, he joined the United States Army and served as a military policeman stationed in Berlin during the Cold War. It was during this time that he married his first wife.

After returning to the United States, Bob began a long and dedicated career with Deluxe Corporation, where he worked for 25 years before retiring. Never one to stay idle, he later opened a small business repairing and selling lawn and garden equipment—work that reflected both his skill and his love of helping others.

Bob’s passion for model trains showcased his patience, creativity, and appreciation for simple, meaningful moments. His hobby brought him joy throughout his life and became a reflection of the gentle, thoughtful man he was.

Following the passing of his first wife, Bob was blessed to find love again with Christine Connolly. Together they shared 15 wonderful years in Sun City, South Carolina, building a life filled with companionship, laughter, and deep affection.

Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the many years we were given with Bob and for the love, kindness, and goodness he brought into our lives. His memory will remain a blessing to all who knew him.
