Robert "Eric" Hensley

Robert “Eric” Hensley, 42 of Ridgeland, SC passed away on August 3, 2016 at his home. He was born in Lexington, SC on September 9, 1973 to the late John Douglas Hensley and Tonia Williams Hensley.

Eric was an Associate On-Call Maintenance Technician. He loved serving people and his family. He served as a volunteer for almost four months at a relief site in East Biloxi, Mississippi during the Hurricane Katrina aftermath. Afterward, he attended Christ Central Institute in Wagener, SC taking classes in Biblical Studies. Eric later came to Ridgeland to serve as the house manager for the Christ Central Ministries Men’s Mission for two years and then returned to Wagener to continue his Biblical Studies where he was the Resident Director of the men’s campus dormitory. While in Wagener he designed, developed and established a mission station to provide counseling and guidance to troubled youth. Eric loved teaching about the Bible while serving as a Sunday School teacher and youth leader at various local churches.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Reed Hensley of Ridgeland; his son, Jason Mitchell of Lexington, Mass; his daughter, Jenna Mitchell of Lexington, Mass; his step children, Chris Smith (Ashleigh) of Ridgeland and Heather DuPont (Roy) of Ridgeland; his brother, John Hensley (Anuschka) of Ridgeland; his sister, Dana McKenzie (Dave) of Plymouth, Mass and grandchildren, Reed, Kate, Ryder, Cutter, Jazmine and Olivia.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Great Swamp Baptist Church, 9009 Tarboro Rd, Ridgeland, SC with burial in Ridgeland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, August 8, 2016 at the funeral home. Sauls Funeral Home of Ridgeland is assisting the family.
