Robert “Bob” Herzog
June 29, 1935 – August 1, 2025
After a brief illness, Bob passed peacefully. He was born June 29, 1935 in New Bedford, MA to parents Albert and Anastatia Herzog. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Beverly Herzog, oldest son Peter Herzog, and brother Lawrence Herzog. He is survived by his two sons David Herzog (Barbara) of McCormick, SC and Scott Herzog (Cindy) of Sanford, Fla, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
His early years were spent in Taunton, MA where he discovered his love of music, like his father, learning the alto saxophone and playing professionally at the age of 13. His family moved to Maine in his teens and he Graduated from Bangor H.S. in 1953. After High School he attended college until he married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Day, in June of 1956. They moved to Connecticut where Bob gave up the saxophone professionally so they could start a family. Bob was very active in raising their boys, coaching their sports team, taking them fishing, being involved with the Boy Scouts, and taking them backpacking in the mountains of New England. Bob and Bev enjoy going to see Broadway plays in New York City and the Jazz Clubs.
Bob’s professional career spanned almost 50 years, starting as a computer programmer in 1956 for an insurance company to being a Director of Information Technologies at a large corporation. He also spent the last 10 years of his career travelling the world as an Information Systems Auditor.
After 40 years in Connecticut, Bob and Bev decided to retire to the south and chose Sun City in Bluffton, SC as the best place. He and Bev played a lot of golf on the Sun City courses with Bob making two “Hole-in-ones”. Bob was also involved in the Computer Club at Sun City serving as Treasurer. Bob and Bev also enjoyed traveling to Europe on the River Cruises. Bob was also an avid fan of the UConn women’s basketball team.
Final arrangements will be handled by Sauls in Bluffton, SC. In lieu of Flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to one of the following: Tunnels to Towers, or Hospice Care of the Low Country.
