Robert L. KingRidgeland, SCRobert Louis King was born October 16, 1931 in Aiken County to Emory and Annie King. He was married to Joyce Gray of Beaufort in January of 1951. He departed this life on October 6, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. Robert served in the Army as a combat medic in Korea. He was awarded the Bronze Star for valor and left the Army as a Staff Sergeant. He was a life insurance agent for twenty years and then served as pastor of the Lowcountry Faith Tabernacle for twenty five years. He loved his God and his family and devoted his life to serving them. Robert has crossed the River now and will spend eternity with the Lord Jesus Christ and loved ones who have gone on before. He was a beloved patriarch of his family and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Emory King, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Gray King of Ridgeland, SC; daughters Debbie (Ray) Haymans and Sandra (Chuck) Cothran of Ridgeland, SC; son, Robert R. King of Columbia, SC; six grandchildren, Charity (Brian) Cleland, Amy (Lance) Graven, Philip and Stephen Cothran of Ridgeland, SC, Heather Woods of England and Angela King of Columbia; eight great-grandchildren and his sister, Virginia Summler of Nixville, SC.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 9, 2009 at Sauls Funeral Home Chapel, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland, SC with burial in the Ridgeland Cemetery.
