Robert Charles Leone, lovingly known as Bob, Bobby, Brooklyn Bob, and “The Fonz,” passed away on September 2, 2024. A cherished life partner and devoted "girl dad," Bob lived a life filled with honor, loyalty, and love.
Born on April 4, 1944, Bob was a friend to all—unless you gave him a reason not to be. With a sharp sense of loyalty, bravery, and a reputation as a man of his word, he embodied the values he held dear.
Bob proudly served his country, spending 3 years, 6 months, and 11 days in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he dedicated over 22 years to the New York City Fire Department, where he was a distinguished member of Rescue 4, an elite squad. In the final years of his career, he served with Engine 22, one of the busiest firehouses on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
In 1989, Bob was awarded a commendation by the FDNY for his heroic efforts in saving several passengers aboard a Boeing 737 that crashed into the East River, a testament to his courage and unwavering dedication.
Bob found joy in life’s simple pleasures—riding his beloved Fat Boy Harley, listening to Motown music, indulging in anything dark chocolate, and, most importantly, spending time with his daughter, Samantha, and his beloved partner, Lucy.
Bob’s legacy of love, bravery, and steadfast friendship will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
