Robert (Bob) D. L'Heureux, Jr.

Robert (Bob) D. L’Heureux, Jr. died peacefully at his home in Bluffton, SC at 83. He was born to Margeurite and Robert D. L’Heureux and is survived by his wife, sons and their wives, and beloved grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, brother, nieces and nephews.

In 1960, Bob graduated from St. John’s College High School in Washington, DC and from St. Joseph College, in Rensselear, Indiana in 1964. Thereafter, Bob accepted a commission in the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country in Viet Nam with the 1st Battalion, 9th Marines in 1965 and again in 1969. After his honorable discharge as a Captain in 1973, he joined the Naval Criminal Investigations Service (NCIS).

The law became of interest, so he pursued a degree at Georgetown Law Center. Upon graduation, he served as special assistant to Paul Boucher in the SBA Office of Inspector General. Later, he joined Bill O’Connor in the Office of Special Counsel as the Chief of Investigations. Upon his retirement from Federal Service, Bob went into the private practice of employment law.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Basilica of St. Mary on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 10:30 am followed by burial at 1:00 pm at the National Memorial Cemetery at Quantico. A reception will be held at the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Donations may be made to Sea Base High Adventure, give.scouting.org, or to Trout Unlimited, vrm.tu.org.
