Robert Anthony Poto (Bobby) was a resident of Okatie Pines Retirement Community, SC at the time of his death on Friday January 12, 2024 at the age of 86.
Previously, with his cherished wife Sheila and his beloved pets Bogie and Rusty, they spent many happy years within the Abbey Glen community with friends and neighbors until the tragic passing of his wife in 2018.
Bobby was the son of the late Louis and Rose Poto. He was born in Mt. Vernon NY on August 9th 1937 and grew up in The Bronx, NY. He was a graduate of Evander Childs High School and later attended acting school in NYC.
Bobby was a retired movie and television Transportation Mgr. in Hollywood, CA for the past 27 years. And a proud member of the Int'l. Brotherhood of Teamsters of America, Local 399 Hollywood. He was also a member of SAG-AFTRA actors union for 40 years. His military service included honorable discharges from both the US Marine Corps. Reserve in 1955 and the US Air Force in 1963 ,in which he trained and handled canine security dogs on border patrol during the Cold War in Europe.
Bobby was avid skier, skiing some of the most famous slopes in the US and the Italian and French Alps. Golf was also one of his great passions and bowling as of late.
The three great loves of Bobby's life were his everlasting love for his wife Sheila , his family and his the love and caring of his dogs Blue,Bogie and Rusty whose support helped him through most difficult times of his life.
He was a communicant at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.
He also loved his old and new friends that he made throughout his life.
Visitation will be Wednesday January 24th, 2024 from 5-7 PM in Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd. Bluffton, SC. Prayer service will begin at 6:30 PM in the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday January 25th,2025 at 10:30 AM at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Bluffton SC. This mass will be lived streamed.
Burial will be in Lowcountry Memorial Gardens, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton at 3:00PM on Thursday January 25th, 2024
Memorial contributions in Bobby's name may be made to your local animal rescue shelter; St. Jude's Children's Hospital and St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Bluffton, SC
