Robert Rivers

Robert Rivers, 83, of Grays, SC died Thursday, June 26, 2008 in the Ridgeland Nursing Center, Ridgeland, SC.He was born in Tillman, SC on May 12, 1925. He was the son of the late James F. and Lilly Langford Rivers.He was a retired Communications and Signals Supervisor for CSX Railroad. He was a member and Deacon of the Beaver Dam Baptist Church. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. He was Chairman of the Building Committee for the First Baptist Church of Port Wentworth and the Jasper Springs Baptist Church. He was an active member of the Southern Baptist Campers on Missions Program and was the last of thirteen children.He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Earline Peeples Rivers of Grays, SC; two sons, Glenn R. Rivers of Marina Del Ray, CA and Charles and Martie Rivers of Newnan, GA.Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the Beaver Dam Baptist Church, Grays, SC with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 til 8, Friday evening at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland, SC.
