Robert Myric Sanders

Robert Myric Sanders, 94, of Bluffton, SC, husband of Marion Stokes Sanders, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 30, 2018 at NHC Bluffton.

Mr. Sanders was born May 10, 1924 in Clopton, AL to the late Robert W. and Estelle (Lingo) Sanders. He attended the University of Florida. A veteran of the US Army, he served in World War II in the Philippines during the Pacific Theater from 1943 to 1946. Mr. Sanders married Marion Stokes on June 15, 1947, and together they were successful ranchers and ACE Hardware retailers in Palm Beach County, FL. They resided in the state of Florida for 82 years prior to moving to Bluffton, SC.

Mr. Sanders’ life was a direct reflection of his faith and devotion to his wife, family, and friends. He was a discerning connoisseur of Southern sweet tea and a life-long college football fan. He enjoyed bowling, volleyball, and tennis in his early life; later becoming a computer and genealogy enthusiast.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by his sisters, Sarah Wilson and Sybil Keyes. He is survived by his wife of 71 years; his son, Michael (Cassie) Sanders of Bluffton, SC; his granddaughters, Kimberly (Todd) McDonald of Columbia, SC and Jennifer (Darian) Anderson of Parker, CO; and his great-grandchildren, Peyton and Jack McDonald and Ashton and Joseph Anderson.

A family funeral service will be held in West Palm Beach, FL at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, Royal Palm Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum, 5601 Greenwood Ave West Palm Beach, FL. Reverend David Broadbent will officiate.
