Robert Prather Shields Jr.

Robert Prather Shields, Jr., 83 of Bluffton, SC passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Coastal Carolina Medical Center, Hardeeville, SC.He was born in Wichita, Kansas on February 20, 1929. He was the son of the late Robert and Gladys McCloud Shields.He was an Attorney for Employers Reinsurance Company at G.E. Company. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He was an avid golfer, volleyball and soccer player.He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Norma Dahlberg Shields of Bluffton; and one daughter, Cynthia S. (Jerry) Whalen of Bangor, Maine. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Holland.Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 pm, Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Sauls Funeral Home Chapel, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton with a military honors burial in Lowcountry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
