Robert Cleveland Smith Jr.

Robert Cleveland Smith, Jr "Bob" 86, husband of Jean Broxton Smith for 60 years, passed away July 16, 2013. He was born May 23, 1927 in York, PA to the late Elsie and Robert C. Smith, Sr. Robert graduated from West York High School, York, PA, served in the US Army, and was a certified machinist and tool and die maker. He worked for Bendix Corporation, York Borg Warner, and retired from York International Corporation. After retiring he moved to Hilton Head Island, S.C. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shrine and Consistory. In addition to his wife Jean, he is survived by son Mark E. Smith, his wife Angel and granddaughter Kailee Brooke Smith of Bluffton and son Robert L. Smith of Jacksonville, FL. Charles, Curtis and Everett Broxton were brothers-in-law, but to Bob, an only child, they were the brothers he never had. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 19, 2013 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland, SC at 11 a.m. with visitation starting at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Beaufort National Cemetery at Noon on Monday, July 22, 2013. Dr. Doug Fletcher, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Hilton Head, where Bob was a member, will officiate. The family requests memorial donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Hilton Head, 540 William Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928 or Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, P.O. Box 3827, Bluffton, SC 29910. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, July 19, 2013 at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams St., Ridgeland. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place on Monday, July 22, 2013 at noon at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC
