Robert Charles ThurnauBluffton, SCRobert Charles Thurnau, 84, died Friday, August 24, 2007 in the Hilton Head Regional Medical Center, Hilton Head Island, SC. He was born in Palisade, Fort Lee, NJ on December 21, 1922. He was the son of the late Theodore Diedrick and Anvernette E. LeBourveau Thurnau. He was former Executive Vice President of Bank One Financial Services. He as a member of the First Baptist Church of Bluffton and a decorated US Navy Veteran of World War II who served on The Yorktown in the battle for the pacific. He graduated cum laude from Alfred University, Alfred, NY. He was the 1968-1969 Maryland State Skeet Shooting Champion for all gauges. He coached many skeet shooters including a National Champion. President of the National Capital Gun Club in Darnestown, MD and a sporting clays course designer. He was former President of the National Consumer Finance Association.He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia E. Thurnau; two sons, Theodore C. Thurnau and Paul G. Thurnau both of Bluffton, SC; one grandchild and two great grandchildren.Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 1, 2007 at Sauls Funeral Home Chapel, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton, SC.
