Robert Viventi Jr.

Robert Viventi, Jr., 84, of Hilton Head, South Carolina passed away on September 13, 2015 in his home. Robert was born in Belleville, NJ on April 22, 1931 to the late Robert and Louise (Rossi) Viventi. Robert was a graduate of Rutgers University and a US Army veteran. He retired from General Electric Company where he worked for 35 years as a program manager for their gas turbine division. He was a Civil War historian and collector. His love of history led to his co-founding the Civil War Round Table Club of Hilton Head Island. He enjoyed painting, playing music, and song writing. He restored antique cars, and was a sports enthusiast . Robert is survived by his wife, Mary Viola Viventi of Hilton Head Island, SC; his children, Robert L. and Ingrid Viventi of Norton, MA., Gregory F. Viventi of Hilton Head Island, SC; and Nancy (Viventi) and Paul Hickey of Hingham, MA.; his grandchildren; Mackenzie Viventi, Cydney Viventi, Adam Viventi, Victoria Viventi, Leah Hickey and Drew Hickey; and his sister Elinor Purdue of Toms River, NJ. His sister Shirley Gintella of Lavalette N.J. preceded Robert in death. A funeral service will be held Thursday September 17, 2015 at 10:00 am at the Providence Presbyterian Church, Hilton Head Island, S.C. Interment will follow at Six Oaks Cemetery, Hilton Head Island, S.C. The family will be receiving friends beginning at 1:00pm at the Bostwick House on Moss Creek Plantation. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to the National Kidney Foundation in memory of Robert Viventi, Jr. A funeral service will be held Thursday September 17, 2015 at 10:00 am at the Providence Presbyterian Church, Hilton Head Island, S.C.
