Robert "Bob" Wayne Forrest

Died November 5, 2013 in Panama City, Florida
Bob was retired from the military after 21 years of service. He was stationed at many bases throughout his career (Turkey, Thailand, Africa, Johnston Island and why not Minot). He served in aircraft maintenance, missiles in SAC, and as an FTD hydraulics instructor.
Upon his 1977 retirement, he worked for Jeffrey Dresser in Columbus, Ohio. Followed by a move to South Carolina to work for Daniels Construction as an instructor. He eventually made his way back to the Panama City area in 1984 to work as a plant manager for Louisiana Plastics. He and his wife made a move to Atlanta for Bob to take a position as plant manager for Constar. Bob finally retired in 2001 and made his home once again in Panama City.
Bob was involved throughout the years as a Mason and Shriner. His passions included the Clemson Tigers football team and aviation of any sort. He was a private pilot, flight instructor and an A&P. His hobbies included having coffee at John Boys in Callaway. He was a permanent fixture there at least 2-3 times daily. He leaves behind many friends at this favorite hangout spot. He also leaves behind many friends at the EAA chapter in Sandy Creek.
Survived by his daughter, Angela Baumgartner and son-in-law Mike, and two grandchildren: Jennifer Baumgartner (Miami) and Matthew Baumgartner.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria Jean Forrest and son, Robert "Wayne" Forrest.
Wilson Funeral Home is taking care of arrangements. Visitation is from 1-3 with service immediately following on Friday, November 8th .
We will be taking Bob to his final resting place in Ridgeland, South Carolina. There will be a viewing on Sunday, November 10th from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Sauls Funeral Home, 310 W. Adams Street, Ridgeland, South Carolina 22936. Graveside service will be held at the Great Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the viewing.
