Rodger Crager, 67 of Bluffton, SC, loving husband of Ann Opperman Crager passed away on August 5, 2016 at home after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by the family he adored. Rodger was born in Hilliard, Ohio on August 11, 1949. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Crager and mother, Opal Crager, along with his sister, Jo Ellen Thomas and brothers, Ronald Crager and Don Crager. Rodger served his country heroically in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. After his military career, he went to work for Eastman Kodak, then for Pitney Bowes in Greenville, South Carolina until he retired and built his dream home with the love of his life, Ann. In addition to his wife Ann, Rodger is survived by his son, Rodger “Allen” Crager, Jr. (Rachel Rengert) of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Cassandra Nicole Crager (Nicholas Marsh) of Bluffton, South Carolina; sister, Mrs. Anthony (Maryann) Poulton of Senecaville, Ohio; brothers, Forrest “Mert” Crager of Brookings, South Dakota and Michael Yonts of Staten Island, New York. Rodger was dearly loved by his father and mother-in-law, Col. (Ret) Larry D. and Mrs. Sandra Opperman of Bluffton, South Carolina; brothers and sisters-in-law, Col. (Ret) Robert and Mrs. Cheryl Stanley of Rockwall, Texas, Lt. Col. (Ret) L. Don Opperman, Jr., and Col. Anita Feugate Opperman of Great Falls, Montana; along with several nieces, nephews, and great friends who loved him. The family will be receiving friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, South Carolina 29910. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 15, 2016 at Sauls Funeral Home, Bluffton with burial following at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the MDS Foundation.
