Roger R. Janson of Sun City Hilton Head, South Carolina, passed away March 17, 2025.
He was the beloved husband of Jan, dear father of Mark (Elsa) Janson and Kim (Steve) Harrington, grandfather of Christian (Rachel), Spencer, Tristan, and Connor, and great-grandfather of Oliver.
Roger was born December 29, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Raymond and Molly Jankowiak. He earned his MBA from the University of Detroit and built a dynamic career in automotive manufacturing management. His employment with Ford, Rockwell International, and Johnson Controls led the family to Michigan, Ohio, and Kentucky before he and Jan settled into retirement in South Carolina.
Throughout his life, Roger enjoyed traveling with his family and spending time outdoors, whether on the golf course, at the beach, in his convertible, or on the slopes. He dedicated fifteen years to the National Ski Patrol, serving in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, and Indiana. In retirement, Roger’s lifelong passion for cars led him to membership in the Porsche Club of America, through which he discovered high-performance driving. He quickly became a certified instructor and relished every opportunity to mentor his children and others who shared his passion for the track.
No matter the situation, Roger was generous with his time and always willing to share his knowledge and experience or lend a hand to help those around him.
