Roger Michaelson

Roger Michaelson, 80, passed away on May 8, 2025, with his wife by his side.

He is survived by a large circle of family and friends, including his stepson, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. Roger is also survived by one brother.

Roger had many accomplishments in his lifetime. He enlisted in the US Army Dental Corps, at the rank of Captain. He served during the Vietnam era. Roger valued education, he held degrees in chemistry, biology, and physics. Roger maintained a Family Dental Practice for over 40 years. Prior to dentistry he worked in Atomic Absorption and Trace Metals Toxicology. He was a NAUI scuba diving instructor. He enjoyed racing his sailboat on Chesapeake Bay.

Roger enjoyed his retirement in Sun City. He assumed leadership roles in the Computer Club, Shalom Club, and R.O.M.E.O Club. He was proud to serve on the SCVA marching unit. He had recently joined the VA/MD/DC group. He could be found on Thursday nights playing Rummikub with the club members.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton. Burial with honors will follow at 12:00 pm at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, South Carolina.
