Ron Quadt

July 1, 1924 — October 9, 2019

Ron Quadt, age 95, of Bluffton, SC and formerly of Fort Lauderdale, FL died Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Bloom at Belfair.

Mr. Quadt was born on July 1, 1924 in South Amboy, NJ, the son of the late Howard and Annamae Quadt. He played Varsity football at Perth Amboy High School (Perth Amboy, NJ) and was offered a football scholarship to the University of Minnesota, but... then the War broke out. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving honorably during World War II at Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge. For his valor, he was a recipient of the Légion d'honneur (Legion of Honor) from the French government as well as the Bronze Star. Following his military tenure he began working as a welder in New Jersey where he retired after many years of service. After he retired he became a handy man at the Drake Tower and also at several timeshares in Ft. Lauderdale.  He could fix anything - he was handy in electrical, plumbing, painting, etc. Ron was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing, was an avid sports fan, especially the New York Giants and the Florida Marlins, and was a parishioner of St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church. He collected old coins, and was a follower of racing both car and horse.  In 1946 he drove the Pace Car for the Indianapolis 500. He loved dogs, of any breed but especially his beloved Schnauzer Sam.  While living in Belfair, he got much enjoyment out of walking his "kids" Lily and TJ every day.  He would always smile, wave, and talk to people who were walking or driving by.

Mr. Quadt was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Irene Quadt. He is survived by his daughters, Debbie Yasenka (Robert) and Rhonda Kelly (Walter); grandchildren, Nancy Park (Timothy), Robb Yasenka (Lisa), Ryan Kelly, and Juliet Kelly; and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Park, Caroline Park, Emily Park, and Grayson Yasenka.
