Ronald G. Nations, 74, of Bluffton, SC and formerly of Powdersville, SC died Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Candler Hospital in Savannah, GA.
Mr. Nations was born on January 28, 1941 in Pickens County, SC, the son of the late Claude Hovie Nations and Ila Reece Nations. He was a Vietnam era, United States Navy veteran. Following his military service he began working in the logistics industry, retiring as a P&D Dispatcher with Southeastern Freight after 38 years of service. Upon retiring to Bluffton, he continued working for 10 years with Berkeley Hall Plantation. He was raised a Master Mason in Bates Lodge #189 in Easley, SC and later became a member of Hardeeville Lodge #348. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Consistory-Valley of Greenville and the Shrine, serving as Past President of the Pickens County Shrine Club. He was a former member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Okatie, SC and was a faithful member of Church of the Palms United Methodist, where he was active with The Brothers Men's Group.
Mr. Nations is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Joan Nations; sons, Michael R. Nations (Carter) of Rincon, GA, Mark R. Nations (Wendy) of Lakeland, FL, and Matthew B Nations of Greer, SC; and his grandchildren, Griffin, Daniel, Michael, and Cameron.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Church of the Palms, 1425 Okatie Highway, Okatie, SC 29909. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will follow the service at St. Luke's Cemetery, 3080 Okatie Highway, Bluffton, SC 29910.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
