Ronald L. Thuma
Sun City, SC - Ronald Lee Thuma, 69, of Sun City, SC passed peacefully on December 12 surrounded by his family.
Ronald was born on March 29, 1945 in Sycamore, Illinois. He was the second oldest of seven children born to Marguerite and Jack Thuma. He graduated from West High School in Cleveland, Ohio in 1963. After 3 years in the Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT, he transferred to Case Institute of Technology in Cleveland, OH, where he graduated with a degree in engineering. He went on to earn his Masters Degree from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn.
Ron was employed for his entire professional career by Grumman Aerospace Corp. where he held a number of management positions, including work on the Apollo Lunar Module.
Living in Bayport, Long Island for 30 years, he enjoyed many days boating on the Great South Bay, being a member of the Bayport Heritage association and serving on the Board of Trustees at the Congregational Church of Patchogue. He was a devoted sports fan and an avid golfer.
Ron is survived by his wife Barbara, son David, daughter-in-law Deb, of Babylon, NY, daughter Jennifer, of Seattle, WA, brothers Richard, Joel, Mark, John, sisters Nancy and Peggy, and four grandchildren, Brooke, Trevor, Jack and Ben.
A celebration of his life will be held at a date and location to be determined at a later time.
