Roscoe Sconyers Jr.

Roscoe Sconyers Jr., 79, of Safety Harbor, FL passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the Broad Creek Care Center, Hilton Head Island, SC.He was born on February 15, 1930 in Clayhatchee, Alabama, the son of the late Roscoe and Mae Bennett Sconyers. He married Barbara Jean Sturdivant in 1952 while stationed with the military in Nashville, TN. They were married for over fifty years.He served in the US Air Force for twenty plus years, retiring 1969 in Memphis, TN. During his service, he and his family were stationed all over the US and around the world. In 1977, they moved to Florida where he was a member of the American Legion, VFW Post 10093 and the Mid Florida Happy Campers RV Club.He is survived by two sons, John Ross (Deborah) Sconyers of Hilton Head Island, SC and Daryl Allen (Rose) Sconyers of Cleveland, OH; one daughter, Marla Jean Sconyers Moore of Memphis, TN; one brother, Jack (Fleta) Sconyers of Birmingham, AL; one sister, Syble Hughes McCullough of Mobile, AL; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Jean and one sister, Waurie Sconyers Moore.A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday November 27th in Clayhatchee, AL at Providence Baptist Family Cemetery.
