Rose Marie Lavery was born April 10th, 1944 at Carbondale General Hospital in Carbondale, Pennsylvania. Rose graduated Saint Rose High School and later married her husband, Joseph L Lavery, on Sept 9th, 1967. Together they shared two sons, Kristen and David Lavery, along with a daughter, Debbie, and son, Joey.
Rose was an entrepreneur, owning several businesses throughout her life and marriage to Joe. Starting with Interiors Incorporated in Scranton, Pennsylvania, she moved on to Something Special, and Griff's Corner Restaurant also in Pennsylvania.
The couple relocated to Bluffton, SC in 1996. Together they owned and operated the Colleton River Deli. Rose later opened Sweet Beginnings, a wonderful children's clothing and gift shop that was routinely looted by her grandchildren. She openly acknowledged that she only opened the shop so she could spoil her grand kids. Spoiling them was a practice that continued long after the gift shop.
Rose loved the freedom, excitement and friendship that came with being a small business owner, and she loved her family and friends more than anything in the world. If you were lucky enough to know her then you knew how special her friendship was. She was an ear to listen and a mouth to gossip. She was a shoulder to cry on, a cheerleader. She was a wife, a sister, an aunt, a mom and a grandmother.
She fought a long, hard battle against cancer. She has now joined her husband Joe, who passed away in 2010. She is survived by her children Kristen and daughter-in-law Lisa, David and daughter-in-law Missy, Debbie and son-in-law Bob, and Joey; her grandchildren Ariana, Bobby, Ryan, Emily, Caroline Grace, David, Brady, Danica and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her special friend, Tony and devoted sister, Joanne who together made her last few months as positive and loving as they could be.
