Rose Rita Pantano

Rose R. Pantano, 93, died at her home in Okatie, on January 24, 2008 after a short illness.She was born in New York City on May 1, 1914, the daughter of Joseph and Lena Grossi. She was married to Anthony J. Pantano on September 14, 1941 until his passing on December 16, 1999. After her husband?s death she moved in with her daughter and they moved to Okatie, SC in November 2006.She was predeceased by her parents, husband and brother, Nicolas Grossi. She is survived by two children: Rosalie Pantano and Joseph (Peggy) Pantano of Bluffton, SC. She is also survived by two sisters, Phyllis Hickey of Toms River, New Jersey and Marie Grossi of Brooklyn, NY as well as three grandchildren, Tina (Matt) Reiff, Anthony (Kari) Pantano and Christopher (Ginny) Pantano and three great grandchildren.A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton, SC at 11:00 am, Monday, January 28, 2008.After transporting of the remains to New York, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Staten Island, NY on Saturday, February 9, 2008 with burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.In lieu of flowers the family would prefer donations in her name be sent to Alzheimer's Respite & Resource, 3001 Meeting Street, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926 and Hospice Care of America, Inc. 21 Professional Village Circle, Beaufort, SC 29907.Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton, SC and Azzara Funeral Home in Staten Island, NY will assist the family with arrangements.
