Ruby W. €Œshorty†Smith

Ruby W. "Shorty" Smith, age 97 of Bluffton, SC died Tuesday, April 28, 2015 in Columbus, NC. Mrs. Smith was born on June 29, 1917 in Marshallville, GA, the daughter of the late William Thomas Whittington and Lula Mae Philmon Whittington. She loved people and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ben H. Smith and her son, Leonard H. "Sonny" Smith. She is survived by her sons, Norman "Jerry" Smith (Cheryl) of Bluffton, SC and William James "Jim" Smith (Margie) of Columbus, NC; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren. The family will be receiving friends from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 1st, 2015 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910. A private burial will take place at Mary Dunn Cemetery, Daufuskie Island, SC. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to any charity of choice. The family will be receiving friends from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 1st, 2015 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910.
