Rufus Wesley (Dad Dick) Smith, 79, passed away Friday, July 1, 2011 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital in Beaufort, SCHe was born in Grays, SC on April 20, 1932 to the late Fred Wilson and Ethel Jones Smith. He was a retired Electrician for Westinghouse Corp after 38 years of service; member, Stafford Masonic Lodge having served as Master, Past District Deputy Grand Master for the 9th Masonic District; member of the Order of the Eastern Star; former member of SC National Guard and former member of Pine Level Baptist Church.He is survived by his wife, Hazel Inez Crosby Smith of Grays, SC; sons, Clyde R. (Tina) Smith of Beaufort, SC; James Wesley (Barbara) Smith of Midwest City, OK; brother, Elton O. (Jep) Smith (Hazel T.) of Grays, SC; sister, Ina Leah Smith of Grays, SC; grandchildren, Louisa Smith, Annie S. (Eric) Flowers, Latesha S. (Rob) McComas, Darlene S. (T.J.) Perkins and Jaxson Flowers. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred Wilson Smith, Jr. and James Neil Smith; sisters, Evelyn (Pete) Wilburn, Jeanette (Jean) Johnson and Neva M. Smith.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Sauls Funeral Home Chapel in Ridgeland, SC with burial in Grimes Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until the hour of service at the funeral home.
