Rusty was born September 29, 1945, in Sumter, S.C., son of Russell Marshall Hildebrand, Jr., and Frances Haynsworth Hildebrand. He was General Manager of Broad Creek Public Service District for over 20 years, on the Board of Directors of the South Carolina Wind, Storm, and Hail Association, long time Rotarian and past President of Vanlandingham Rotary Club, General Partner and regular customer of the Sea Shack, a MBA graduate of the University of South Carolina at Columbia, a member of the Society of the High Hills of Santee, and an active member of Sigma Nu fraternity.
Rusty's passions were numerous, among them were countless trips pheasant hunting, Golden Oldies, Bass Weejuns, early morning bike rides on the golf course, and the Carolina Gamecocks! But his passion for his family and friends was immeasurable, influencing all who were blessed to share space with him. His favorite activity was sharing his love of life and new experiences with us, his family and friends.
Above all, he loved his family wholeheartedly. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne; daughters, Harriet Hildebrand of Raleigh, NC, and Jennifer Foreman Middlesworth of Charlottesville, VA; son, Jeff Foreman of Harrisburg, PA; two perfect grandchildren, Ryan and Mary Middlesworth of Charlottesville, VA; as well as, his beloved siblings; sisters Emilie Alexander of Clarkesville, GA, and Virginia Hinnant of Anderson, SC; brothers, Thomas Howell of Columbia, SC, and Charles Howell of Maine.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial gifts be made to Hospice Care of the Low Country or Hilton Head Heroes.
