Ruth Benton Ford

Ruth Benton Ford, 63, of Bluffton, SC and wife of James Thomas Ford, Jr. passed away on Friday, July 24, 2009 at her home.She was born in Hampton, SC on January 11, 1946 to the late Jake and Alma Loreen Bowers Benton.She moved to Bluffton, thirty one years ago from Hampton County, SC. She was a member of the Landmark Baptist Church. She kept the nursery for the Church of The Cross in Bluffton for over 20 years. She loved fishing, cooking and spending time with friends and family.She is survived by her husband, James Thomas Ford Jr. of Bluffton, SC; one son, James Thomas (Michele) Ford III of Kennesaw, GA; one daughter, Julia Ford (Rodney) Musselman of Bluffton, SC; three brothers, William Lige Benton and Richard Bartow Benton both of Hampton, SC and Jake Benton Jr. of Cocoa Beach, FL; five sisters, Mary Jane Crapse of Furman, SC, Alma Mae Edwards of Port Wentworth, GA, Lizzie Loreen Mason of Rincon, GA, Linda Ann Oxendine of Brunson, SC and Margaret Susan Boutwell of Charlotte, NC; and two grandchildren, Shelby Lynn Ford and Grant Thomas Musselman. She was predeceased by her parents and one brother, Clyde Benton of Fairfax, SC.Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, July 28, 2009 in the Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton, SC with burial in the Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC. The family will receive friends from 6 til 8, Monday, July 27, 2009 at the funeral home.
