Ruth Florence Halpin

Ruth Florence Halpin passed away very unexpectedly on Monday, October 27, 2025, at the age of 79.

Born in London, England, to Kurt and Gertrude Rushin, Ruth was raised in the Chicago area. She loved learning and went on to earn two master’s degrees before becoming a devoted college professor. Ruth had a deep appreciation for art and music, but her greatest joy was always her family. She will be remembered as a gentle and kind soul, whose beautiful smile brought warmth to everyone who knew her.

Ruth is survived by her husband Roger Halpin of 57 years, her son Kirk Jerel Halpin and his wife Laura; her daughter Lisa Halpin-Khanna and her husband Sudhir; and four cherished grandchildren, Abraham, Solomon, Yuv, and Reina. She is also survived by her brother, Jack, and his wife Tamara. Ruth was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Harold Goodman.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held on Friday, November 7th at 10:00 AM at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton, followed by a graveside service at Six Oaks Cemetery in Sea Pines, Hilton Head.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) in Ruth’s memory.
