Ruth Peluso (Nee, O’Donnell), beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend passed away on May 8, 2024, at the age of 83. She was born in January 1941, to Alice O’Donnell (Nee McDowell) and Thomas J. O’Donnell, in South Boston, Massachusetts. Ruth's childhood was colored by the bustling streets of South Boston, where she developed a strong sense of community and a love for her family. She attended Gates of Heaven grammar school and Cardinal Cushing High School for Girls, where she laid the foundation for a lifetime of cherished memories and enduring friendships. In 1964, Ruth married the love of her life, Warren Peluso, after meeting him a decade prior in 1954. Their union was a testament to love, commitment, and unwavering devotion, spanning six remarkable decades. Together, they traversed life's joys and challenges, raising their children and relishing the joys of grandparenthood. Ruth was a dedicated mother to her children, Michele Bigelow and her husband David, Mark Peluso and his wife Sarah, and Michael Peluso and his partner CJ. Ruth took immense pride in their accomplishments and found endless joy in their presence. Her grandchildren, Sophia and Jake Peluso, held a special place in her heart, bringing light and laughter into her life. Ruth cared deeply for her nieces, nephews and their children, including George Orr, his wife Mary Jo and their children George and Grace, Ann Marie Orr and her partner Mark, David Orr, Tommy Orr, and Alison Burke. While in school, Ruth carved out a name for herself as a competitive swimmer, emerging victorious in numerous competitions. Whether she was gliding through the water with precision and grace or pushing herself to new heights of excellence, Ruth's passion for swimming was evident in every stroke she took. Throughout Ruth's life playing Bridge and other card games with friends brought her immense joy and fulfillment. Her warm smile and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many. Ruth and Warren made homes in Dorchester, Melrose, and Westboro, Massachusetts. They finally settled in Bluffton, South Carolina, where they continued to build a life filled with love, laughter, friendships, and cherished memories. As we bid farewell to Ruth Peluso, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love, kindness, and generosity. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Ruth will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love and light she shared so freely during her time on earth. Funeral Services will be private.
