Sallie Ann Hoffman

Sallie Ann Hoffman Sallie Ann Hoffman (nee Darling) passed away peacefully on January 13, 2015, at Hilton Head Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 18, 1944 in Newark, NJ, the daughter of G. Edwin and Sarah Darling. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years (John) Bill Hoffman, two sons, William Douglas (Brooke) Hoffman, James Edwin (Kelley) Hoffman, a sister Jean (Tom) Giordano, and brother George (Pam) Darling. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jeffrey Hoffman, Nicole Held, Anna Southwell, and Cody DiBenedetto. Sallie grew up and lived in New Jersey most of her life. She was an avid traveler, and had a long career in the airline industry, spanning over 25 years at Newark Airport for both TWA and United Airlines. Sallie held various positions in administration and management with both airlines, until her retirement in 2002. Sallie and her husband moved to the Hilton Head, SC area not long after Bill's retirement. She quickly became involved with work at Habitat for Humanity. A few years later she held a part time job at the Coastal Discovery Museum, until retiring from her position there late this summer. However, she was soon back at Habitat for Humanity as a volunteer this past fall. Sallie was an active member of several bridge groups, as well as the Island West book club. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015. Visitation will be at 11:00 AM with service following at noon, at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Hilton Head Regional Habitat for Humanity or Hospice Care of the Low Country. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015. Visitation will be at 11:00 AM with service following at noon, at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910.
