Samuel Martin Bougus

Samuel Martin Bougus, 19 of Bluffton passed away on May 15, 2017 as the result of an automobile accident. Sam was born on January 17, 1998 on Hilton Head Island, SC to H. Martin Bougus and Sandra Sgroi Bougus. Sam was a 2016 graduate of Bluffton High School. He was employed by Hilton Head Boathouse; avid fisherman, passionate about boating and loved being on the water. Sam will be remembered for his wonderful smile. According to his fellow workers he came to work smiling and when he finished the day he was still smiling. He will be truly missed by all. In addition to his parents, Sam is survived by his maternal grandmother, Sopie Sgroi and paternal grandmother, Helen Bougus both of Syracuse, New York; aunts and uncles, Sam and Millie Sgroi, Jeff and Sue Petrocci, Steve and Barbara Sgroi, Donna and Steve Brostek, Tom (Bo) Bougus, Linda and Mark Berger, Patty and Tony Despirito, Bobby Bougus and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Samuel Sgroi and paternal grandfather, Henry Bougus. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:15 pm on Friday, May 19, 2017 at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 31 St. Gregory Drive, Bluffton,SC. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 am until the hour of service at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church.
