Samuel M. Emmett

Samuel M. Emmett passed away peacefully at home on November 24 ^th surrounded by his loving wife and children after a long and gallant battle.

He was born in Wilmington, Delaware to Isadore and Annette Emmett and is an alumnus of the University of Delaware.  Sam had a successful 40 year career with Sears where he held various positions as he climbed the ladder of success.

After his retirement they relocated to Sun City, South Carolina.   He enjoyed hours of happiness on the pickleball court, playing cards with friends, reading, listening to his CD collection and entertaining anyone that would listen to stories about his 5 beloved grandchildren.  Sam’s natural wit and humor helped him connect with any and every one who he encountered, as he never met a stranger, only people that he had yet to meet.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy, daughter Debbie (Jim) Welch, son Brent (Amy) Emmett, brother Dr. Gary Emmett (Marianne) and 5 grandchildren Brittany (Caden) Slagle, Craig Welch, Tyler, Ryan and Aidan Emmett.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Lucas County Special Olympics, checks made out to Debbie Welch and sent to 4857 Sylvan Prairie Ct. Sylvania, OH 43560.

A Celebration of Life for Sam will take place in the Spring in Bluffton, South Carolina.
