My 60+ year love affair with Sandy temporarily ended on July 6, 2018, an unwilling victim of ALS. Sandy was born in Blue Island, IL on June 7, 1936. She leaves behind a grieving husband David Terry of Bluffton, SC, sons Stuart of Escondido,CA,Thomas and daughter-in-law Christine of Lakeside,CA and daughter Judy Anekal and grandson Miles of Brooklyn,NY. Also surviving are sisters Patricia Bailey of Baton Rouge, LA and Mary Mason of Huntington Beach, CA. She graduated from Monmouth College (IL) in 1958 and we married the following Summer. Sandy belonged to KKG sorority,Junior League and PEO. A natural athlete,Sandy excelled in just about any sport that she tried. Tennis and golf were her passions but family was always her first priority. She added a new dimension to the title of housewife. Sandy was a woman of radiant beauty, both inside and out and her smile would melt a glacier and also my heart. I must move on now for a short time, awaiting our joyous reunion at the Throne. Our favorite quotation is from an anonymous source, one upon which our belief system was based: “I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn’t, than live my life as if there isn’t and die to find out there is.” Sandy’s memorial service will be held at the Church of the Cross on Friday, August 17 at 2:30. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers in Sandy’s name will be welcomed at the Church, PO Box 278, Bluffton, SC 29910. Cremains will be interred on Church grounds as will mine. Sauls Funeral Home in Bluffton is serving the family.
