Sara Francis Benfield Harris

Loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister, Sara Francis Benfield Harris, left this world peacefully on January 24, 2008, surrounded by her family. Sara was born February 14, 1930 to proud parents Thomas and Lottie Benfield. She grew up in Rock Hill and was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and Winthrop College.In 1948 she married the love of her life, Elliott Pierson Harris Jr. (Abie) and went on to have six children. They resided in Rock Hill until 1961, then moved to Greer, SC. In 1978 Sara and Abie moved to Chickamauga, GA. She enjoyed the last three years in Hilton Head, SC. Sara devoted her life to her family. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, needlework, quilting, crosswords, vacationing at the beach and a good card game with family.Mon, Grandma, Sara, will be sadly missed by those left behind: children, Elliott Pierson Harris III (Butch) and his children, Gabriel and Rex, Timothy Bratton Harris and his wife, Susan and their children, Chris, Jason, Adam and Josh, James Gregory Harris and his wife, Sharon, Patricia Ann Ziff and husband, Terry and their children, Jeremy, Lindsay and Marley, Gettys Wayne Harris and his children, Laura and Jenna, Joseph Michael Harris and his daughter, Lindsey, 11 great grandchildren, her brother, James Benfield, sister in law, Ann Benfield, brothers in law, Lloyd (Donna) Harris, and Gettys (Lois) Harris, Uncle Max Talent, Aunt Marjorie Talent, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Sara is reunited with her beloved husband, mother, father, her brother, Avery, and many other loved ones, in this we find peace.Graveside services, officiated by Dr. William C. Pate Jr., will be at Old Unity Cemetery, Fort Mill, SC on Saturday, February 2, at 2:00 pm. Celebration of Sara
