Sara “Sue” Holmes Meyer

Sara “Sue” Holmes Meyer, age 83, of Bluffton, SC and formerly of Phoenix, AZ and Lumberton, NC died Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at home. Mrs. Meyer was born on April 12, 1933 in Castleberry, AL, the daughter of the late Mallie Benjamin Holmes and Thelma Nealy Holmes. She was a member of the Junior League in Lumberton, but most importantly she was a loving wife and caring mother to her family. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Dr. Hobart Meyer, Jr.; son, Hobart Meyer, III (Vivian) of Rock Hill, SC; daughters, Ruth Meyer Moran (Daniel) of Wilmington, NC and Deborah Meyer Long (Ben) of Bluffton, SC; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen C. Meyer. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society.
