Sarah Evelyn Gray Grooms

Sarah Evelyn Gray Grooms, 85, widow of Wilson W. Grooms, Sr., passed away Friday, July 1, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews, NC.She was born in Grays, SC on March 14, 1929 to the late Miles F. Gray, Sr. and Nora Gray. She was a homemaker; a 1945 graduate of University of SC Medical College of Nursing with a BS degree; Registered Nurse at Roper Hospital in Charleston, SC; in support of her children, she was a member of the PTA, Band Booster, Sports Booster and Scouting and a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. She served as the neighborhood nurse.She is survived by her son, Wilson W. Grooms, Jr. and wife Janet; grandchildren, Marrisa, Jonathan and Miles, all of Charlotte; brother, William (Johnnie) Smith of Grays, SC; She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Kathy E. Grooms and twin sons who passed away in 1948.Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm, Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Beaver Dam Baptist Church in Grays, SC with burial in the church cemetery.
