Saverio Emilio Funicella

Saverio Emilio Funicella, 93, of Bluffton, SC died Monday, September 28, 2015 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah, GA. Mr. Funicella was born on August 28, 1922 in San Vincenzo La Costa, Italy, the son of the late Francesco Funicella and Divina Scala Funicella. Mr. Funicella was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Rose Funicella. He is survived by his daughter, Joanne Funicella Cooney (Thomas) of Bluffton, SC; son, Frank Funicella of Danbury, CT; brothers, Salvatore Funicella (Victoria) and Luigi Funicella (Flora), all of Stamford, CT; grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, April, and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Anna, Makena, Lillian, and Madeline; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 5, 2015 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910. Funeral services and burial will take place in Mahopac, NY under the direction of Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children's Research.
