Scott James Hady

January 22, 1971 — May 30, 2022

Scott James Hady, 51, of Bluffton South Carolina died on May 30, 2022.  He left behind family, and friends who are devastated by his unexpected passing.

Scott was born in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania to the late Francis (Fritz) Hady and Lynn Moore Hady.  Scott also resided in Scranton, PA.  He was a graduate of Crestwood High School.  Scott completed the apprenticeship and training program through the Carpenters & Joiners Local Union and earned the status of a Journeyman Carpenter.

Scott was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Carpenters Local Union 645 where he worked as a Journeyman Carpenter while residing in PA.  Currently, Scott was a Project Manager for Lyle Construction, Bluffton SC.

Surviving are his lifelong friend and wife, Melissa Guida Hady and cherished furbabies Duke, Clare and Oliver.  Siblings Renee Clark and husband Barry, Joseph Hady, Eric Hady and wife Diane, Lynn’s companion Donald (Peanut) Rittenhouse, a stepbrother Jay Aigeldinger, nieces and nephews, and brothers-in-law, Brian Guida and wife Anna and Christopher Guida and wife Melanie.

Scott had a heart of gold and was a fiercely loyal family member and friend.  He held a special place in the hearts of his family as the youngest and was deeply loved by both the Guida and Hart families who appreciated his sense of adventure and humor.  Scott was selfless and the most genuine person one could meet.  He was extremely empathetic and compassionate.  Scott performed countless acts of kindness; whether it was assisting family, a friend, neighbor or rescuing an animal.  He saved many animals to include but not limited to rescuing a puppy in a swamp and breathing life into a non-responsive bird.  Scott never met a stranger.  He was a friend to all.  To know Scott was to love him.  Scott was also widely known for his wit.

Not only was Scott a Master Carpenter, he was highly skilled in a breadth of areas to include mechanics, and autobody repair.  He was an analytical genius.  Scott could restore or build anything.  He was a perfectionist with a keen eye for detail, especially when it came to his craft.

Scott was happiest on the water or on Daufuskie Island.  He loved boating, fishing, crabbing, and clamming.  Scott also enjoyed camping, traveling, skiing, riding his motorcycle and snowmobiling.  He spent countless hours tinkering in the garage.  Scott collected motorcycles and, in his teens and twenties, was a Volkswagen enthusiast.  He was always looking for the next project whether it was a motorcycle, boat or car.  When on the road, Scott always seemed to find this project.

Scott was an optimistic free spirit.  His visions allowed him to turn his dreams into reality in ways others could not foresee. A testament to his skill and resourcefulness, Scott’s Daufuskie Island Compound would have been a dream for most.  Scott singlehandedly constructed his dream by transporting materials via personal boat or barge.  It was a true labor of love.  He spent weekends strategizing, building and constructing the compound piece by piece sometimes with the assistance of a buddy; whether they were willing or not.  There was no sitting around when you were in Scott’s presence.  Scott’s journey on Daufuskie Island could have been a trending reality television show.

Although we are heartbroken in our grief, Scott left us with a lifetime of stories, connections and friendships.  We are better people for knowing Scott; whether he taught us how to fully embrace life, pay it forward or properly build something.  He taught us to be risk takers and provided us with experiences we would have never imagined.  Scott’s spirit and our memories will live on forever in our hearts and will remain with us as we continue this journey called life.
